Gabriel Petty, MPAS, PA-C

Educational Foundation & Clinical Expertise

Mr. Petty’s path into orthopedic care is grounded in both academic excellence and a lifelong passion for human performance. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry while actively engaging in research at The Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research, where he developed a strong foundation in evidence-based medicine and innovation.

Gabe went on to earn his Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, a program known for its rigorous training in both primary and specialty care. He further refined his clinical skills under the mentorship of Sports Medicine fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Burns, gaining hands-on experience in sports medicine and minimally invasive orthopedic techniques.

This blend of scientific training, clinical expertise, and performance-based care informs every patient interaction—bringing thoughtful, precise, and highly individualized care to each person who walks through the doors at Westlake Sports Medicine.

A Lifelong Athlete with a Passion for Performance

Gabe’s commitment to orthopedic care is deeply personal. As a lifelong athlete, he understands the drive to stay active—and the frustration that comes with injury or chronic pain. His early curiosity about how the body works and heals fueled his pursuit of medicine, leading him to study biochemistry before moving into clinical care.

That same curiosity continues to shape his approach today. Gabe is passionate about longevity, human optimization, and helping patients perform at their highest level—whether that means recovering from a sports injury, managing arthritis, or improving overall vitality. His care philosophy is centered on whole-body wellness, conservative treatment strategies, and personalized, precision-based solutions.

Outside of the clinic, Gabe stays active through hiking, strength training, and exploring new ways to optimize health. He also volunteers at youth sports events throughout the Austin area, giving back to the community that fuels his passion for performance and wellness.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a busy parent, or recovering from surgery, Gabe’s mission is the same: help you move better, live stronger, and get back to doing what you love.
